Car buying

Armed with the need to change cars it only needed to be decided what to buy. And that is as simple as fitting the car to the criteria:
  • good to drive as compared with current VW Passat 153 kw petrol;
  • lowest price per km travelled TCO (total cost of ownership)
  • support the brand of ElliottBourke;
  • Meet Jo's design requirments (ie pretty enough for my wife);

I assumed expensive cars on a TCO basis would be a similar cost to less expensive brands.  Obviously the cheque at the start would be more but the start position was that the cheque at the end would balance it out.

So I test drove a number of cars most were not a good enough drive.  I was not wanting fancy décor or fetching finish just enough grunt to keep me out of trouble and get me past a tractor and also pretty enough to get my wife into the car.

That meant I did the numbers and negotiated on:
Toyota Aurion
Holden SV6
Lexus IS 250F sport
Audi A4 Quattro
Mercedes c250 and
BMW 320d

I have a long running position with Jo that I will not buy BMW but I test drove one without any expectation of buying.

Well the numbers were interesting and I am about to be the proud owner of a BMW Diesel.

I am more than happy to share my model if you are interested.  I don't think Jo will come buying cars with me again  :-)
