Professional service firms and consultants are escaping the overheads of expensive offices, complex information technology structures and expensive mass media by using the internet and so are managing to stabilise their rates and protect their profits.  

What have historically been blue collar workers are picking up many of those costs. As a result  it is now not a surprise to see a clean mechanic using a computerised diagnostics device in a super clean and safe workshop.   The specialised skills, expensive technology and safety has a cost.

Even so I think $100ph is probably a bit rich.
