Lean Accounting

Too often the financial information does not appear to relate to what is going on at the shop floor. Not surprisingly the information cannot be used to direct good decision making by the managers on the floor. So the managers use the best information they have. But they lack insight to the financial implications of those decisions. This all means that when the business is trying to implement good operational initaitives the finance team is not involved or is not able to provide great value. The above situation is like rally driving with a co-pilot who speaks a different language and only knows what is in the rear vision mirror - it can be done but you will probably not get the winners spot. The fact is that the finance team can provide the information, and support process changes that allow the right decisions to be made to get the best out of any business. Do not accept less!
